happy belated b-day to the great Nikki Giovanni born 6.7.43. I got a chance to meet and speak with her at the conclusion of a lecture she gave at USC last summer. she was incredibly warm, wise, and funny taking time to speak with me even though she was very tired due to a busy traveling schedule that had her departing for the airport shortly after this picture was taken.
